Default What is the Art Community Like?

I have been so focused on finding out if we can live in COS and worring about my husband getting this job that I have neglected to ask about the local art scene. I have seen a little info on the Bemis Art School, but not too much. I was also curious if anyone might know if there are any studios that offer figure drawing in an open studio setting? Is there much of a market for artists or does it seem saturated?

A shame you aren't here this weekend... the Fine Arts Center (FAC) is having all sorts of events... glamorous wine tasting at the exclusive Broadmoor for $59 per person...will really be over the top. And a jazz reception, also this Friday night at the FAC museum gift shop downtown, for the national PREMIER of Catastrophe and Catharsis, about the Katrina disaster in NO, LA, and its premiering here FIRST. Jazz will be New Orleans style.

Around August, the new $28M FAC Museum opens, with a gala... there is no shortage of arts in this town... and in Manitou... and that includes performing arts too.

You're gonna love Colorado...

In looking at artistic areas I also found Bemis School and it looks nice. I believe you can call or email them from the home page. As far as classes on performing arts or wanting more in a certain class, Denver has it all. Ive saw people drive 1hr & 45 min. to a specific class here so an hour or so to Denver is not bad at all. I would never see either area as saturated for artists but that is just from asking around and research online. There is a school of the arts in Denver very well thhought of so a lot of extra to access in that area.
