Default moving from maui to colorado springs..what areas are best to live in?

My husband and I are moving from Maui to Colorado springs and would like to know the best places to live out there. I have done some searching and found a place called Bellaire Ranch which looked nice. We are not sure about the area though...any help would be very much appreciated!

Bellaire Ranch Apartments are very close to the Airport in an area that has homes that are generally from the '80s or earlier. Lots of apartment complexes and a trailer park in that area - probably a 50/50 mix of homes/townhomes to apartments.

Where are you looking to work?

well right now we are paying $1,350 a month for a very small 2 bedroom ( granted it is within walking to the beach) so we are looking for places around $600 so we can save some money!! We have no children yet so being close to a school doesn't matter I would prefer to be close to shopping centers, a grocery etc. We would like to be in a safe neighborhood/part of town. Maybe I could get some zip codes or areas to stay away from..that could help. Thanks for all your responses! We have heard a lot of great things about the springs and we are very excited to move We are going to have to get use to the weather change but that will come with time i guess

Default Zip codes

IRT the OP's request, here is my opinion on where she should look for apts, by zip code.

There is a lot to choose from here, you can find apts for $600 but most of them will be less desirable, but there are some gems out there. Lots of shopping all over the area, not a problem.

Try using Real Estate Listings, Homes for Sale and Rental Property Listings – REALTOR.com® to locate rentals. At the main page, click the radio button for RENTALS, enter 500 at the low price and 750 in the high price box, type in the city name of colorado springs, co and hit the return button. There are hundreds of places listed, and that's just what's in realtor.com, not to mention all the other rental websites, like rent.com or rentals.com etc

Here's one from realtor.com. It's out on the east side, zip 80915 and is a decent area from all respects.
Colorado Springs, CO, 80915 - MLS ID#567810 - Rentals Real Estate - REALTOR.com®

Here's what you can get for $750
Colorado Springs, CO, 80904 - MLS ID#431174 - Rentals Real Estate - REALTOR.com®

Zip codes:

North side, newer area and IMO clean and pretty.
80920 aka Briargate
80921 aka Gleneagles or Northgate (far north end of town), especially any apts along Interquest Pkwy
80918, especially those near Woodmen Road or Austin Bluffs Pkwy

East of town, further from mountains, flatter, newer stuff
80831, Falcon area
80908 if near Falcon
80915, south of Falcon, stay in the north end of this zip, the south end is a bit older and near the airport
80922, just west of 80915, is closer to town and the main shopping corridor, which is the Powers Blvd corridor
80917, along the Austin Bluffs Pkwy, further north the better, south end gets a tad old

South of town, near Fort Carson / Fountain area. Good area.
80911, Security and Widefield areas
80817, Fountain

West of town, all sort of stuff on the west side, nearest the mountains
80906, Broadmoor area, can be very exclusive in spots
80904, aka Old Colorado City (OCC), a funky area of neat shops and eateries, close to downtown
80829, aka Manitou Springs. Sits on side of Pikes Peak, steep hills, narrow streets, touristy, tons of eateries and shops, barely 5 miles from downtown, they even have bus service to downtown, along Colorado Ave, which means it goes thru OCC
80919, one of the prettiest areas on the north/west side, especially along Centennial Blvd, further north the prettier.

AVOID
Some zips on the S.E. side are bad news, at least as bad as it gets here, which isn't all that bad. Lots of trouble though, along S. Academy Blvd and Murray Blvd, in the area just west of the airport (between downtown and the airport). Some parts of these zips are dicey, some are just old, these are the older parts of town with oldest places.
80909
80910
80903
80905
80907

Center City is mostly zip 80903 and 80907, but there are great gems in this area, especially in the Old North End, where there are wide tree-lined streets and you can walk to most things if you wish.

Before you go too far, use the Index of threads in the forum and use the search tool with keywords like: apartments or rent to find info that is already here.

I have to agree Mike is on it...
"The BEST place" would have to be the Broadmoor area if you are looking for a high end community. EVERYTHING depends on the details you are looking for in a home/area.

Default The Preserve at Hidden Creek Apartments

Is the Preserve at Hidden Creek Apartments a good place to live at in regards to the complex itself, the area, safety and shopping near by?
