any real colorado mountain rural homes near CS
Rural housing near Colorado Springs, are there any? Mountain housing?
seems like all the housing is suburban conventional housing in CS that you can purchase anywhere from Akron to Sacramento--whre are the homes with character, ski chalets, mountain cabins, etc
It is Colorado right?

I'm sick of looking at light beige colored homes as well with their garages occupying over half of the facades... Makes me want to throw up!
If you want the character you mentioned, you need to look west of here in the mountains. Cascade, CO has some pretty cool homes with character. So does Woodland Park... Manitou has some interesting homes as well... However, if you want to have some quality architecture, it will cost you... Pueblo has some cool architecture as well, that you would think of New Mexico.

I was going to mention Woodland Park area. Many of us love Colo Sprs but could live without the track housing.

I had a friend that lived just outside Garden of the Gods park, northwest of Old Colorado City. It was very much like mountain housing. Because of the topography the homes were scattered all over in different directions. There were a lot of older houses with lots of character and charm. Give it a look.

Most of the communities going up the I-24 pass toward Woodland Park are "Mountain Living" and not the traditional neighborhoods. You might also want to look at the dirt roads between Woodman and the AF Academy (West of I-25, take Woodman to the right at the first intersection - Woodman doesn't go straight). There are secluded homes in the pine trees in this area. Black forest is also similar with secluded homes in the forest.

Take highway 24 and keep driving West until you reach Divide.
There are some very beautiful (expensive) houses in Woodland Park! I suggest going through Paradise Cr (take a right at the Walgreens). Some of the houses have breathtaking views of Pikes Peak!

There are some great deals up in Cascade/Chipita Park, 1900s Log cabins and the like, I looked at some last week, most of them are smaller homes/vacation type but there are some monsters out there as well. I don't think most folks have a clue when they drive through the area just how many homes there are.

The question is, what is a 'real colorado mountain rural home'?
If you stay out of the tract communities, then you'll avoid the tract homes. We have plenty of unique homes, from funky shacks, to log cabin, to creepy mansions to monstrous hillside chalets here in PL and northward into Perry Park... But I sort of hesitate to even mention that... Kind of a secret, you know...
But hesitate
