Default El Taco Rey / Salsa Latina

The wife and I tried the APB today for the first time at El Taco Rey and I was doing some investigating and found the Salsa Latina is the son of El Taco Rey. You are correct; the Avocado Pork Burrito smothered is to die for (sniff, sniff if you know what I mean) that green chili was excellent some of the best I’ve had, spicy but not overwhelming in heat. I will give Salsa Latina a try next time we are in the area as we live on the north end of town.

I heard recently they were closing until the Woodman / Academy roads were completed. If Mission Inn really did close we didn't lose much, that's for sure.

I sure seem to be in the minority, in that I thought the Mission Inn was the best Mexican Restaurant in town, and I had been going there regularly for many years.

Regardless, the Hilstrom's have the property up for sale. They had a kitchen fire about a year ago, and never fully recovered. Add to that the construction at Woodman, and it bacame a better economic idea to shutter the place than to try to keep it running. Pity. Again, it's just one man's opinion, but I always thought Spike made the best green chili and the best Margaritas in town. It tears at my heart a bit every time I drive by the place.

Mexican food is not a problem, now chinese is another story! Even in Woodland Park, lots of good Mexican to choose from, no good chinese. ;( Green chili no onions, maybe Sante Fe version has onions, but not REAL mexican.

Read recently in the Gazette that Casa Diego is closed, it is now a new restaurant. Never made to the place like I wrote I would.

Read recently that the old Mission Inn building will be a new medical marijuana depository.
