Lightbulb Spanish Classesss for kids and adults in Colorado Springs

I am a native Spanish speaking professional engineer, thinking about opening private Spanish classes in Colorado Springs for kids and adults.

Would like to know if there is any interest among parents and adults for this kind of service.

The initial plan is to start the classess at my home. I am doing research to determine if there is any interest in the market for this service to be held at private residences for groups of kids/adults.

Please provide me with your kind feedback.
Gracias.
Ana

I think you would do better in Pueblo or New Mexico.
More Spanish people need to start learning ENGLISH IN AMERICA! How about English classes for Spanish people?

I think it's a great idea. I think there are many people like me - late 40's in age and still wishing I had taken Spanish in high school.
GO for it!

Hola Ana - your research willl likely show that English is the predominate langauge in most of Colorado. The hispanic communities along the Front Range are mostly in the towns and suburbs of Pueblo and Denver.

Teaching English to the hispanic population may become a more worthwhile (and lucrative) pursuit for you than to teach Spanish to the predominately English speaking white population along the front range.

We are bilingual in our own home and don't expect others to converse in my wife's native Portugese. No offense intended, but many Americans are growing wary of having to "push 1 for English".

When we travel to Brasil (they love Americans there), we try our best to converse in the native tongue of the country.

When in Rome....

Ciao!

Hola Ana. In the largest school district D11 (www.D11.org) there is a link to Essential Skills, that list several foreign languages. Spanish is one of the languages listed and actually, my son takes a class afterschool offered by D11. There is also a school Freedom Elementary, that has Spanish as a "specials" rotated out with Art, PE, Music, and Media/Tech. There are probably other opportunities at other school districts as well.

No disrespect to anyone...but that was just plain funny! Did you really say that??? I've always been an advocate for more English classes being taught in our schools.

Does anyone know of a Spanish language school where adults can take courses? I'm looking for more of an immersion class.

I'm looking to try and teach out in Colorado this upcoming school year and need to bring my Spanish back to where it used to be. (I'm rusty but have the foundations from college) The consensus is there is a need for Spanish speaking educators...

I would be interested in it. If the price was right. (of course) I am currently in classes At Pikes Peak Community college, and there are always plenty of students interested in continuing with Spanish outside of the classroom. So also, if you set up just a general 'socialization group' that would be cool too. Also, such as an immersion group where people could come together for an hour or 2 once or twice a week, where nothing but spanish was going on.

My Spanish teacher got many pupils as a result of the free classes she offered at the public library.

There is a demand for Spanish for health care providers. You might offer free introductory classes at a church or a nonprofit to get your name out.

Good luck!

I am curious if anyone knows Spanish classes or schools taught for children. With the hispanic community being quite large, I find it interesting that you really don't see too many 'schools' as you can find Greek school and Korean schools. My children are 1/2 Puerto Rican and I would love for them to learn about their heritage and native languages. My husband teaches them when he has time but his career in the military limits that. If anyone can offer me any help, I would appreciate it.
