Bakeries (Golden, Fountain, Palmer Lake: inspector, restaurant, cost)

For cakes, I use a whole in the wall called Kandy Kastle. Its in the shopping plaza off of 85/87 in Security. An older lady owns it. She has a variety of cake baking and candy making materials.
I heard there is great bakery somewhere downtown, north downtown by Colorado College, but I don't know the name. Someone brought in these delicious coffee cakes and braids one day to work from there.
Can you consider Chesapeake Bagel a bakery if it makes its own bagels. You can have bagel sandwiches too.

I know someone who works at Wimbergers Old World Bakery and Delicatessan---they have breads and such. They are at 2321 Bott Ave, CO Springs, 80904. 719-634-6313. You might check them out.

Boonzaaijers has really good pastries--I highly recommend them.

For grocery stores, Whole Foods is probably your best bet for breads and other baked goods. There is one on North Academy and also one out on Powers & Carefree.

I use to get these wonderful sticky buns at Andronico's when I lived in Los Altos. I have never been able to find anything like them anywhere else. Anyone found a great place in Colorado Springs that have over-the-top Stick Buns?

Uwe's German restaurant is fantastic - a lot of local Germans go there. No frills, just good food.

Boonzaaijer's Dutch Bakery has the most phenomenal chocolate torte cake. It's a $30 cake but wow, is it good. Special occasions!

I went to a small German store this morning. Its in the Mesa Shopping center, Mesa Ridge ParkWay in Fountain. It is behind Dominios by th AM-NAM resturant across the street from SafeWay. There was a line waiting at the door at 8:50 for it to open at 9.I dont know when they open during the week but I know they close at 5pm. I bought some of their Kaiser rolls. VERY VERY GOOD. They also have german spices, a deli, sweets, and KINDER EGGS! My children love kinder eggs. They are kind of expensive but being so close to easter I had to buy some! Needless to say everything that I bought outta there was good. The only bad part was I found out they dont make their own bread it comes from a bakery, at least thats what I was told. But if you are looking for a German Deli or something from Germany I think you should give this a try!
