Texans to visit Colorado
I am from Texas but visit Colorado Springs often to visit my best friend. I am coming in March this year and am bringing my 2 boys with me aged 13 and 8. They really want to snowboard and I want to take them to Ski Cooper so they can. Being from South Texas we don't experience snow much. The problem is that I won't have transportation. My friend is having a baby on March 5 and I cannot leave her without a car and she can not come with us. So, I have 2 questions: 1. Is there a bus or another similar method that can get me from Colorado Springs to Ski Cooper? If so, can you give me contact info so that I can look it up. 2. If there is no other means to get there, is renting a car an option? I know I could rent one but can someone with no experiecning driving in snowy/icy weather get there safely? It looks like it is a sraight shot on 24; but I am not experienced driving in treacherous conditions (Or maybe they won't be that bad). Just not sure what to expect! Please help me if you can! Thanks so much!

I don't know of any bus or shuttle routes from Co Springs to Cooper, but the roads will likely be clear and dry. It's not a 5 month snowstorm in Colorado like a lot of people think.
If road conditions ARE bad, my guess is that any sort of shuttle or bus would probably not be running that route until it clears anyway.

Highway 24 all the way from COS to Cooper. Not an issue at all, unless we're in the teeth of a bad winter storm (and you probably wouldn't want to go skiing then, anyway). Cooper is a great learner's hill. Rent the car. Enjoy.

I agree that renting a car would be much easier...you can rent a four wheel drive that is the best for snow. It would probably be more convenient than dealing w/ a bus/shuttle. They should keep the roads clear in the ski resort...if you encounter snow just drive slowly and give yourself plenty of stopping room. I live in Colorado Springs and we have not had much snow...and it melts quickly w/ the sun! Have fun!!

Shuttles to Ski Resorts are available, just not to Cooper. There are some to Monarch and usually Breckenridge. Monarch is probably not as intense so maybe try this link... 94.3 KILO - Colorado Springs, CO - "Colorado's Pure Rock!" - Ski Bus and to Breckenridge, Keystone, Beaver Creek, and Vail call Colorado Springs Shuttle at 877-587-3456. ENJOY Colorado!

If you're looking to rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle, best bet would be to make reservations NOW. Don't expect to rent one the day you get here without a reservation, or even the week before.

Hello : You can try this commuter shuttle that goes often to ski resorts.
I had saved their numbers since last vacation to all ski resorts in colorado.
You also can bargain the fares, they are very convenient and reliable.
Their phone number is "720-435-3754 ask for jack. Good luck
