Went down to the Springs this afternoon, NO snow at all down there! The roads are just wet at the moment in WP.

I drove back up to WP again today...I went looking for the Pike Peak Web Cam...when I found it I called my wife back in Arizona and told her to pull it up on the internet...I then waved to her and built a little snow man...it was only "still shots" but she really like it. My kids thought it was cool to see me basically "live".

Sorry to dig this thread up but I was wondering if anyone commutes from WP to Cripple Creek for work? How's the drive year-round? I'm a stay-at-home mom that's a little tired of staying at home....thought I'd look into getting a job at one of the casinos but I'm a little nervous about the drive. Any thoughts?

LCM,
I've been doing the drive for 15 months now. I love it! It takes me about 35-40 minutes when taking my time as long as I don't get behind a mine truck going 20mph through the twisties. I can get there in 30 minutes if I take 4 mile and haul a$$! 4 mile is a dirt road that I take when the weather is bad, since there is gravel below to help with traction and no traffic.
This last winter there were about 12 days when the roads were snow packed/icey, so it took about 45 minutes to do the drive. But again, you can pickup 4 mile right before you start heading up in the mountains (Rainbow Valley signs) and you get back on 67 after Gillett Flats.
I do have an AWD car (Dodge Magnum) with dedicated winter tires (Firestone Winterforce). My co-workers have no issues with front wheel drive cars and 4x4 SUVs. It isn't that bad really. If you work at the Brass Ass/Midnight Rose/JP McGills/Gold Rush, you can take the Ramblin bus (they pickup/dropoff in Woodland Park near the library at certain hours) for $6 round trip from WP. The Triple Crown/Gold Rush sponsor the Ramblin busses, which is why they get the discount. If you work at another casino, it is $10 roundtrip from WP.
Here is the Woodland Park schedule:
http://casinoshuttle.com/schedules-c...ark-divide.asp
You do have to make a reservation so they stop in WP/Divide, as their web site says.
Employee pass: http://casinoshuttle.com/employee-passes.asp
I believe the buses only cancelled service two days this winter, and that was when 2 out of the 3 casinos closed due to lack of business. So if you are really concerned about bad weather, ride the bus!

I hope your move goes well and that you enjoy WP. I wanted to move there. Even looked at houses. But, with the economic downturn I simply could not justify selling my house for less than what it was worth and paying more there. In my opinion WP and the surrounding area is about one of the best places in the country. Enjoy it for me.
