Empty Parking Lots in the Springs???
Hey there, this may sound weird but I'm actually looking for an empty parking lot to take my son to so he can drive his car. Just wondering if anybody knew of any abandoned, large or always empty parking lots that aren't too close to any businesses or what not. Thanks guys

They are all over South Academy... You might also try the World Arena during the day (unless there is a car show there), there shouldn't be any vehicles. Have fun!

Hi - Not much in the way of empty lots on the west side. On the weekend, and late afternoon, there is Coronado High School at 1590 W Fillmore. It is big, flat and has good visibility. you may also want to try the County buildings on Spruce and Kiowa west of i25. If no curb stones there, it may do for the driver training...good luck.

High School parking lots are a good idea. Weekends and evenings - they should be close to empty.

This is going to sound funny but after the parking lot driving, my mom took me to Evergreen Graveyard and Memorial Gardens because there is hardly ever traffic, lots of stops, starts, and turns, and slight hills at Evergreen to practice the clutch. I also practiced parallel parking using the rows of headstones and guides. Mom would stand outside, and direct me. It worked great and I wasn't nervous with cars around me. Good luck.

Good suggestions!
I would also consider going to the airport (not the pay parking) and then driving all around it, learn to park in spaces, go out around and back again! The back part is always empty! Fun!

I always see tons of space at Chapel Hills Mall parking lot, back behind Dillards, same for areas around Citadel Mall.

If he is learning to drive a stick shift a large dirt area is great. A dirt area will allow the wheels to slip a little easier when someone is learning to use the clutch - otherwise possibly causing a stall.
