As everyone's home values continue to decline as more jobs are lost (and new ones aren't created) in Colorado Springs, and more people either foreclose or put their homes on the market, at least we'll all have an extra $10 in our pockets.

Now I just need to decide what to do with my ten bucks. I can't wait.

Most fast food resturants have a dollar menu now! I bet you could even take you whole family...

Well, we SURE put those pesky politicians in THEIR place, didn't we. A pyrrhic victory? Cut off our nose to spite our face?

Meanwhile, am I the only one to see the hypocrisy in what happened yesterday?
- 68% of voters said YES to taking Federal money, which comes out of someone ELSE's pocket.
- 62% of voters said NO to spending $10 out of THEIR OWN POCKET for efforts to bring in new business.

IMO, highly hypocritical of those voters to take other people's tax money while going Scrooge on a tenner from their own creaking wallets. Some joker in the paper today was sucking up to the 'nay' voters by saying how smart they are for not buying into something vague, etc. Hell, no one knows which companies are considering a move during the next 15 years, no way to list them in the definition of this effort, in the manner that you can make a list of road or park improvements. All the loss of 1-A proves to me is that cynical thinking and cheap behavior are the hallmarks of too many voters, and the false economy of the "cut my taxes" crowd is going to ruin us all.

Very well said, Mike. The 68%/62% vote you cited perfectly illustrates the "cut my taxes" crowd. They seem to EXPECT everything to be done a certain way, but for some reason it's never their responsibility to chip in.

I personally don't fear losing my job, but I am willing to INVEST in my community to help make it a better place for everyone.

Why must everyone lump the "cut my taxes" crowd into the "expecting something for nothing" crowd.

You might want to educate yourselves a bit more on why MOST people voted NO. It's called IRRESPONSIBLE spending. The only way to control IRRESPONSIBLE spending is to limit spending.

This is an issue of "DON'T RAISE MY TAXES"...not "CUT MY TAXES".

You make a great point, but it's not as simple as that.

For me, it's NO on both.

Spending your way out of a recession is like eating more food to lose weight. INSANE.

I'll stay away from the politics of it all, but the bottom line is that you can't lump all "anti 1A" folks together for the same reason.

Lastly, so many people assume that this "$10" will do magic tricks (other than to just disappear)...when in fact there's no promise of anything. Kinda like voting for a stimulous package that nobody has read.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Regardless, we're both concerned for our community and donig what we can to make it better.

Cheers!
