This was in the Colorado Springs Business Journal:

"More and more, I am thinking about re-opening the Pueblo Business Journal and moving to Pueblo. They understand economic development."

I'll take his comments with a grain of salt. He's in the business community, whose mantra is growth; especially if he does NOT foot the bills for it. He's still smarting from the defeat of item 1-A, and his comments are mostly sour grapes.

Meanwhile, we have a ton of voters here who will vote NO on everything that requires public spending; 'nuff said.

Exclamation Council unanimously agrees to grant HP incentives for data center

This was in the Gazette tonight and shows that incentives do work. Hopefully the Springs will learn from this.

"The Colorado Springs City Council unanimously approved an economic development agreement today that gives Hewlett-Packard about $4.8 million in incentives to build a $260 million "next-generation" data center on South Rockrimmon Boulevard."

I can give you lots of examples from Chicago's history that bribes work there, too. Look what a mess that has gotten them. A history replete with gangs, corrupt politicians spanning generations, intractable organized crime and a south side ghetto among the most dangerous in the country.

Maybe if we can "learn" how to tolerate bribe and blackmail as "simply business" and use that to grow enough, Pueblo can one day be our south side ghetto.

You cited Chicago and I know they have their issues but they are also the third largest city in the country and have a downtown that is comparable to NYC's. I would not mind if the Colorado Springs/ Pueblo region copied their good ideas!
