Default Retirement/Vacation Home

Hello,
A friend of mine moved to Divide from Maryland in June of 07'. I first visited him in Sep of 07' and instantly fell in love with the area. It seems to be an off road biker's heaven and I'm interested in a vacation home with the possibility of retiring to the area in 10 years or so. Originally I was looking along the Rt 24 corridor between Woodland Park and Florissant but I've discovered Crystal Park and it looks almost perfect. But I'm afraid it might be too close to town and all the congestion and problems associated with that. On the other hand, I'm having a tough time selling my wife on the move and I think being closer to Colorado Springs would be an advantage in winning her over.
I'm looking for any suggestions/advice as to what area might make a better choice for a vacation home. The #1 priority for me is I want a spectacular view from my back porch and it looks like Crystal Park would be hard to beat but those homes would stretch my budget to the max. I'd also like a place that is close to ORV trails. My main concern is that until I retire (6-10 years) I'd only be able to spend 4 or 5 long weekends out there a year and I'm concerned about weather related damage or crime in an unused house. I'd appreciate any input from the "locals".
Thanks,
Doug
