My wife and I will be moving to Colorado Springs in end of June. Is the area just southeast of Prospect Lake good regarding low crimes etc (a couple blocks east of S Union Blvd and south of Eastlake Blvd)?

Thanks!

No, not really. I wouldn't say it is a bad bad neighborhood but I wouldn't recommend that area, either.

No, no, no, no, no. The HS I used to work at for at-risk teens is on Eastlake by Prospect Lake. Those who live in the area are in gangs (all ages), on welfare with no appreciation of it (its the way of life for them), and drugs galore. The kids would hang at the lake and one was knifed and had his throat slashed as a threat. He was gang and it was his own gang who did it. He lived and it was "minor" cuts, but really...do you want to have neighbors like this?

That's a terrible area, one of the most dangerous in this city.

Keep looking.

If that is your price range, look in Security, Fountain area. Remember, Fountain and Fountain Blvd are two completely different areas. One is a town and one is a street that is known for crime.

for that same price range as Prospect Lake? Really? I thought it would be more expensive...typically the more north the more expensive. What neighborhoods are you thinking where the homes are 100K?

There only a few places in the 100k range. I did see some on West Unitah, B street, Statmoor Meadows, Fountain and Security were about the only places I found. There has been alot of issues on the Southside of Memorial Park too which is also Prospeck Lake. In the NE there is NO homes in the 100k unless it has fountain problems. But I did just sell my home Downtown for 113k. We always said anything East of Union and South of Austin Bluffs isn't the area I want to live in. But that isn't to say there isn't nice areas there, just ones I don't want to live in . Good luck in your search and do tons of reasearch. You might be better off renting first to get a feel of the areas you want to live in.
