I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on Tranquil Acres?? We are looking at a house there and I would like to know more about the neighborhood. Thanks

I would suggest Highland Lakes northwest of Divide, rather than Tranquil Acres. It's a little farther NW than Tranquil Acres, but the schools are the same, shopping is the same, but it is much better maintained as it has a fabulous HOA. Highland Lakes roads are all county maintained, there is a centralized well water system there which is maintained by Dave Stanford and his family called Aqua Care (I think), DSL mostly by Qwest, but also through the other phone providers (although cell service is iffy, even though there's now a cell tower in Divide), Satellite by everybody (I had Dish Network and Qwest DSL), and even though the roads are dirt, they are very well maintained year round. Highland Lakes was established in 1972, and each lot is a one acre or more sized lot. There are 7 fishing lakes, permits from the HOA are required; there is a wonderful communtiy building and playground, and the HOA is extremely well organized so there are holiday parties for the kids, fishing derby's, and a ton of other activities for families. I used to be the President of the HOA so I'm significantly biased. And my dad was the original treasurer and was on the founding Board of Directors. I lived there from 1972 until this past February.....so, like I said, I'm biased. But, in NW Teller County, Highland Lakes is probably the most well run subdivision in the County as everyone there really cares very much for it.

Thanks so much Marcy! We've looked in Highland Lakes and we really love it,but we found a really good deal in Tranquil Acres, so I was just wondering if it was a good neighborhood. We don't have any little kids,so it doesn't matter about the schools. I just want to be in a safe neighborhood!

One of the things I remember about Tranquil Acres is the water problem, but that it also has quite a few mobile homes. The Architectural Control is extremely lax, or used to be. So, you could have a really nice home next to a crummy one with a car up on blocks. It may seriously have changed, but I'd really be careful before buying there.
