I know things are tough all over the country now, and some places are doing better than others. We will be heading to the springs in a couple weeks and was hoping to find a job when we get there. So from what you're saying, i may not be able to find a job? Are there jobs? Or just not what your looking for?

There are so many factors here - what are the person's qualifications, experience, what field/s can he/she work in, how flexible is he/she, how good is his/her resume, how well does he/she interview, what education does he/she have, etc., that the questions cannot be answered without a whole lot more information. The job market is tough, like everywhere, but there are jobs.

I was told that the construction trade still going strong in the area. Is this true? If so, is it more commercial or residiential?
I am a carpenter for nearly 20 years now. (from framing to trim work)

Alot more commercial/institutional than anything. Hospitals, some retail but that's about dead, schools, etc are the main construction. Not much wood in those buildings. Do you do cabinetry? I know that's really needed in those building types.

My brother is in his late 20s and used to manage a couple construction companies here. He was laid off this spring, early February. So, he started his own concrete business and is doing very well- avg 20K a month after expenses. He wished he had started earlier. He has a lot of connections in the city and is very well respected and several have said they love working for him (he buys his guys lunch daily, provides frequent picnics for his employees, and only expects a good work ethic). So, it is possible. Best of luck to you!
