Default Real Deal on Sheriff's Immigration deal

Imagine being hired as a Deputy Sheriff in El Paso County S.O. and you think your blessed with a job few ever get to do, but greed and that ever almighty bottom line dollar is the reason you hate your job. If you were to go to work tomorrow and your employer said "we are going to send you to a school for a month to get trained so you can enforce FEDERAL law." Sounds cool doesn't it. The Sheriff's Office budget is greater than it was years ago due to its arrangemnets with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). As a Deputy you will be expected to do ten fold the amount of work you do with no compensation. And you will do this because your told to, although you were never hired on to this position with such a rediculous expectation. The Sheriff's Office budget is approximately 10% of the ICE earnings paid to the Sheriff's Office. Funny how that money stays at the top and never sees its way down. Unlike SWAT, SRT, and many other jobs one must volunteer in the Sheriff's Office. Immigration enforcement is not optional it is forced on you to do the job of ICE. If I do the job of a Deputy Sheriff and an ICE agent I get nothing? Funny, because of deputies who do this the S.O. makes most of its money. The worse part about it is that the deputies work under a chain of command that doesn't know jack about actually working an immigration case. That same chain of command will make demands you do all your deputy and ICE work even if that includes staying after shift every day. But where's the compensation? Compensation Time doesn't pay bills. This is just one of the many reason you DO NOT want to work for the EL PASO COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE.

And yet they only will take the top few candidates...so the competition to get in is fierce! What I want to know is how a Ftn PD lives with its driver up in Black Forest. So, we are tight financially yet this cop can take his cop car home all the way up in BF--commuting between Ftn and BF. Its all twisted...
