Default Advice for 23 yr old moving to colorado springs

My friend and I are heading out to colorado springs in september. He is in the air force but i am not involved in the military. I was just curios about where a safe and fun place for us to live might be. We would like to be close to some nightlife but saftey is much more important. Also i dont want to be paying an arm and a leg to rent. Also how close or the snowboarding areas from the springs?

Thanks

I would check the Colorado College area downtown in the 80903 area code. You're only a few blocks from downtown nightlife, and I would think there are some affordable rentals in that area, while still being in a safe zone.

Snowboarding areas are about 85 miles away, with Monarch Mountain and Arapahoe Basin being your closest picks. Personally, I love Monarch Mountain. It's not crowded and the powder is excellent.

Good luck!

There are exceptions, but as a general rule, you're better off north of downtown than south. But of course, the apartments are generally cheaper in the south.

You'd think that with Pikes Peak just to the west of the city that there would be tons of ski resorts all around, but that's not the case. I'm not a skier or snowboarder, but I think it's at least 2 hours to the nearest places.
