When they did outlaw fireworks, could you shoot the good ones like the firecrackers and bottle rockets before the city banned fireworks?

Well, ever since we have been here (1996) they haven't been legal. They have been legal outside of city limits...
Of course, being a FF, you confiscate everyone's stuff and then have a blast setting them off at the fire station. Oh, one of the few perks of being married to a ff.

I think they have gone over board in fountain. I went to buy sparklers for my children and was told they are even illegal. come on people are you serious? I was then told of a warehouse that sells illegal fireworks to people with out of state id. You just have to sign a waiver saying you wont use the fireworks in Colorado. Are you for real? Why would you? Fountain is the "All American City" and we cant even use sparklers to celebrate? Yeah, that says so much.

Sparklers illegal? I will double check on that today and get back to you. In the past, sparklers are allowed and considered different than other fireworks because they don't explode.

Thank You for checking into that. I saw a sign on my way back into today that saya all fireworks are illegal maybe thats where the guy at the store got that from. It would be great if sparklers were not illegal. If they are not because they dont explode would that include the sparkler fountains?

Fountains are not legal in the city limits. I think basically if it is sold in a grocery store, it is legal in city limits - so snappers, poppers, maybe sparklers....

I called down to station 2 and this year sparklers will be included in the illegal ban. However, I wouldn't worry if you are using sparklers, they have other issues to deal with than a family enjoying some sparklers.

So I was visiting with a Fountain Fire Fighter and here is what he said (I will leave out names purposefully).
Darin (That would be Chief of Ftn Fire) decided a couple of years ago that the city of Ftn would go ahead and allow fireworks to be sold in town, of course charging them to sell here. He would then ban anything that left the ground and fine those caught using illegal fireworks-fines going towards the fire department. Now, everything is banned, but guess what?! Yup, short on money and hoping you will go ahead and light up so they can raise even more $ for the department. Guess they will be really enforcing it this year too...$ calls.
You know, it didn't used to be this way. Head out to the county, right outside of city limits. Do your thing there. And if you choose to use sparklers, just keep your bucket handy and be safe. They can't hear sparklers.
I don't condone breaking the law, but when you look at the logic behind it--it isn't because we are really dry and could start a fire, its an evil plot.
Happy safe 4th! Despite the crap we do deal with in politcs in this country- I still love my freedom and thank every active/retired soldier we have ever had! Thank you for fighting for my freedom to complain....lol.
