Default Relocation to suburbs of Colorado Springs

I am planning to relocate from Orange County, CA to outside of Colorado Springs late 2006 or by mid 2007. I plan to commute into Co. Springs for work but would prefer to live in a small town/city within 25 miles or 45 minutes from work. Is there a rail service from outlying communities into Co. Springs? I am currently self employed for 19 years; a degreed accountant with an IRS designation of Enrolled Agent meaning tax prep and representation. I would be looking for employment in a law firm with a tax specialty or an accounting firm. Maybe a controllership in industry. How is the job market in the greater area? Is there a need for accounting/tax people in the smaller towns/cities such that I could reestablish by practice? What can you tell me about the supply of rental housing? Gas prices here have been over $3/gal since May; what is the price in greater Co. Springs area? Single; no kids except for 3 old cats. Conservative, politically active Christian. Looking for a small city/town outside of Co. Springs that bears no resemblance to southern CA. Many thanks!---Sharyn

Default Just north of the Springs

Try Monument or Palmer Lake, north of town, reasonable drive into town. If you go west into the mountains, there's are several towns up Rte 24 that may be pleasing, but get more snow than here.

In the Other Topics Forum, see Tips and Techniques for Finding a New Place To Live.

The main Colorado Forum already has many postings that answer your questions about job hunting here, resources, websites. Look at the thread called Why Choose Colorado Springs for many of answers on jobs, crime, areas of town, weather, etc.
