Default Discovery Canyon High School

Hello again,

Thank you to all who contribute to this forum! This forum is excellent in providing so much valuable information for those of us who are moving into the area "cold". I have more high school questions...what do you know about Discovery Canyon High School? Something weird about some of the students going to Pine Creek and some at Discovery Canyon? Is it a brand new school? Anyone have / had a student there?

I have a daughter who's been going to DCC since it opened 3 years ago. She'll be a sophomore in high school this year. For 2009-2010, the high school is open only for grades 9-11. In 2010-2011, they'll add 12th grade.

Because it's pretty new, there aren't as many clubs/activities/sports available as there are at Pine Creek. As a result, a lot of kids choose to attend Pine Creek instead. Hope this helps.

I'd be interested also in opinions of Discovery Canyon. My son will be in middle school next year and that is one of the tops choices on my list.

I have a middleschooler (6th grade) and have so far been very happy. I would recommend you to visit and take part in one of the tours.

Thank you. We are planning to visit next month and hoping to be able to tour several schools while we are there.

My son was interested in Fencing and we decided to try it out with a club that offers beginner courses where you don't have to purchase the equipment right away. It's on Centennial just south of Garden of the Gods. Their site is... Pikes Peak Fencing League - Home

Between January 19th and 21st, DCC will be hosting information nights for families considering moving their kids to DCC. Here's a link to the schedule (includes all D20 schools).
