Default Fountain, Colorado PHOTO TOUR

While we were out driving around killing time (selling the house and had a showing), thought I would snap some photos and show you all what Fountain looks like. So, here you go.
What you are looking at: photo of Pikes Peak from behind the Walgreens parking lot up at Fountain Mesa and Mesa Ridge Parkway, Cross Creek neighborhood, Heritage neighborhood, the horse arena I have discussed before at Metcalf Park, Cumberland Green neighborhood, the new Splash Park at Aga Park, another Walgreens parking lot photo, and then your view of 85/87 and Mesa Road (parallels Mesa Ridge Parkway and many take it skip the lights and traffic when heading to 85/87. It borders a horse pasture.)

Very nice! Thanks for sharing! Where were those pics taken? It seems like my home searches keep taking me to Fountain and I'd love to have a good view of the mountains.

What we call 85/87 (eighty-five eighty-seven) where the main shopping is (Walmart, McDs, Applebees, Wendys, Payless, Goodwill, etc. On one side Fountain and the other side of the road is Security and Widefield. The tracks run parrallel to 85/87. The bridge you see is what connect Fountain/Widefield to I-25 and Fort Carson gate 20. At the top of the Mesa, you will find a Lowes and a Safeway shopping center. You can get to gate 20 in about 5 minutes from this Mesa Ridge Parkway and Fountain Mesa (Lowes/Safeway). As you can see, the bridge is under construction.
Also, I want to add the my wonderful 12 year old snapped these shots while I drove.
What the photos are: Aspen View homes at C&S and Fountain Mesa, Fountain Creek Regional Park pond, Fountain Creek Regional's playground, the sign, the bridge for Mesa Ridge Parkway going over 85/87 that connects to I25, and more of that bridge.

More neighborhood photos....
First photo is on C&S road looking north to Cross Creek homes, partially Fountain and partially Widefield.
The next phots is further south on Fountain Mesa heading down the hill towards Metcalf park.
The next one is of the high school. Fountain School District 8 has only 1 highschool located in the Countryside neighborhood.
The next photo is of a street in Countryside.

First photo is looking at Countryside. To the left of me is Ftn D8's bus barn and to the right is Hanover (homes on acreage on Old Pueblo Rd.)
Of course, I have to include what 85/87 looks like. This is where so much of our shopping happens. Everything is on the west side of the road. Also, the homes behind this shopping area and in this vicinity is where you want to avoid. For one, the sewage plant is down here and you can imagine the occasional smell. Security is on the other side of 85/87 and the tracks. Like I mentioned, the RR runs parrallel to 85/87. I25 also runs parallel to 85/87. On the otherside of the interstate is Fort Carson. Fort Carson seperates Fountain/Security/Widefield from the mountains.
The first photo is looking for 85/87 up on the "mesa" where you will see the back of Walgreens, Lowes, Mesa Ridge HS (Widefield School District 3), and some newer homes that look out to the mountains. Fountain Creek Regional Park is also down the road.
Next photo shows that bridge again but you are at the intersection of 85/87 and Fontaine, a street that takes you up into Widefield.
Next photo shows you Security on the other side of 85/87...that bridge again in the far background.
Here is a shot looking directly at Mesa Ridge HS and Lowes. You are on 85/87...still.
All those fast food chains on 85/87...
Proof that you are parallel to the tracks and on 85/87. I would like to note that the trains aren't allowed to blow their whistle on certain stretches of 85/87.
When you go all the way down 85/87 and get into more of downtown Fountain, you will see the caboose. The somewhat marks that you are entering the older part of Fountain.

We have another showing tomorrow at 9am so we will take the camera out and take more photos. This will allow me to come back and look at "home" after we have moved to VA. Hopefully I will get some photos of Security and Widefield. If you have requests, please let me know. I am hoping I am not out a lot for showings and someone makes an offer soon, but you never know!

My story...
We are civilian but DH is a govt firefighter who currently works at USAFA. He has a hearing problem and has to wear an aid. BUT, this is a no-no because hearing aides melt to your head in a fire. His annual physical was coming up and in effort to try and keep his job, he decided to partake in a study where they put a hearing aide implant in your head (The Hearing Study | Otologics Fully Implantable Hearing Device). Even though he went through the surgery and all was successful, the govt doesn't recognize it as an implant because it is a study and not FDA approved. We knew this might happen so he put in for anything all over the world in an effort to keep a job. Wouldn't you know it, the day of his physical and the doc telling him he couldn't fight fires anymore, he got picked up by Langley AFB as a fire inspector. So, he lost a job and gained a job in the same day. He will now work normal hours, no more shift work. He will be off nights, holidays, weekends, bad weather, etc. WOW! In the past 12 years, I have never experienced that!
So, I resigned from my job in D8 as a sped teacher and started to fill out my own teacher job application. I was so emotional about having to leave, I didn't even finish the application (who wants to leave our beautiful area!). Well, the next morning, Williamsburg school district called asking if we could set up an interview. I interviewed a week later over the phone and was offered the job within hours AND never did finish the application. So, I think we are meant to go to VA.
We sold the ATVs, finished the house remodel (you know, all that stuff we wanted to do the house over the past 8 years) and it is now on the market. If God keeps it up, we will have an offer soon and we will be on our way. Departure date is tentatively set for Aug 8th. We can't afford to rent and pay on this so we will live in our camper (don't feel bad for us, its big and beautiful and very doable even with 3 kids) until the house sells. BTW- if you are house hunting and end up going through a bi-level house on Camino Del Rey, its mine! LOL! 5bedrooms and 2 baths for 155K.
So, that's my story...and I'm sticking to it until the good Lord changes it.

Broadmoor is a million dollar neighborhood and nobody has acreage but the famous Broadmoor Hotel and that would be its golf course. In between is Fort Carson and Harrison District 2, the area you want to stay clear of, in addition no acreage. In order to get acreage, you are going to have to look at Falcon, eastern side of Colorado Springs, south end of Colorado Springs like in Hanover or Penrose, or up in Divide/Woodland Park. Everyone wants a view of the mountains and everyone wants land...so you will pay a pretty penny for such a thing. My brother lives on Marksheffel on the outskirts of Fountain/Widefield and owns about 5 acres. The house is a rancher with basement and isn't fancy and last appraised at $450,000. There is some land in Fountain at the bottom of C&S road off of a dirt road, like a couple of acres and last I checked it was selling at $250,000. That is without a house or any utlities. If you use the PPAR site, it lists everything on the market as of now. Every realtor posts their listing through this site. The only thing it doesn't have it FSBO. It has foreclosures and Short Sales. If you don't see what you are looking for on the PPAR site, it isn't available.
