Default Roofing contractor suggestions - Black Forest

I need a small job done -- barn addition roofed. Easy (well, not for me), 12' X 27' flat 3/12 pitch, no valleys, gutters or gables. But I don't want it screwed up and my favorite roofer has retired. Has anyone had good luck with a roofer in the area?

I've seen this has been posted twice. I can't offer to help any time soon but I was wondering if you could help me with the knowledge of contractors/carpenters/roofers/plumbers/electricans/home builders in that area. It seems to me from these forums that there are not many around and the few that are around are very expensive and not many can speak english very well (not assuming, just stating what I've read)....

So my question is this: If my husband knows how to do any and all contracting/carpentery work -- from doing tile floors to tile walls to framing a house to installing doors to finish wook or roof repair or new roofs or decks or electircal or plumbing or cabinets or appliances....... if he comes to CS -- would he be able to start his own business easily as long as he gets a good reputation within the first year? He's from upstate NY, is 26, and has every tool known to man....

Is it a crazy thought for us to try and move and have him start his own business.
What do people think of this?

I would recommend being very careful about a move if that's what you'd be basing it off of - the ability to start a contracting business here. Also, I would recommend making sure he gets licensed and insured here in the state. There are a lot of fly-by-nighters around here and people want a bit more confidence in the contractors they hire. We've recently been speaking to various contractors about a number of jobs on our property and I've noticed how many of them are not licensed or insured. That doesn't mean they don't do a good job, but it's just added security for a customer.

There are a LOT of contractors out here, on my street alone, 5 of my neighbors have their own contracting business. Everyone seems to be hurting in that business right now. They're slow on jobs or have nothing at all and are scraping by at the moment. If you're going to make that sort of move, I can only suggest that you be as financially prepared as possible - have as much saved up for the future in case there's no work, and be prepared to have to do something else full time while building up your contracting business on the side, until it's enough to replace the full time wage. It's a touchy market to be in out here (as in many other places I imagine) and there seem to be quite a few very low-cost unlicensed workers out this way that are getting the jobs (whether or not they provide quality or not) and it leaves everyone else high and dry right now

I can recommend McWilliams Roofing in Colorado Springs. They can handle any type of repair, replacement and any type of roofing system. I have used them many times for many types of properties.

I have a link to their site from my web site. Send me a direct message or check my profile for the web site.

I believe my neighbor does roofing also. I know he does framing (as he did our basement) and siding. If you're still looking for estimates, I can ask him if he's licensed/experienced with roofing also and pass along his info if he does.
