Talking relocating to colorado springs

Hello, my husband to be(in one week) and I and our 5 month old son will be relocating to Colorado Springs from michigan. We have been looking at apartments (point of view and cottonwood park) are these good apartments? decent area?
He will be working at Memorial hospital, Im a CNA, which i have to go through the state board of nursing in Colorado to obtain it for that state, where is good to work there? I was making $15.25/hr, I was looking at a place called right at home i think it said $12... Im also a POST certified correctional officer... (any decent jobs or places to work for me?)
Also I go through National City bank, is there one located there?
Im also trying to find an LPN program, I found something on Concord in Aurora, and one i think in Boulder, any information on them? commute time? thank you for your help!

Maam, with all due respect, your demographics (unfortunately in my case) comprise 95% of the residents of the city of Colorado Springs. More specifically, most of the people who live here are young couples who have very young children. The reason that I said unfortunately in my case is due to the extreme lack of available single ladies in this town. This is undisputably a "family town" and IS NOT intended for singles such as myself to live in my opinion.

I've not heard of National City bank; you will probably need to get a new bank. UCCS here in town used to have a nursing college called Beth-el, I don't know if it is taking applicants right now, and I don't know which degrees are offered, but I know it had RN. Where are those apartments located?

katandmike I looked up the address you provided and may I ask why you are looking at that particular area? I don't consider it a safe location for a young couple with a baby. Some may balk at me for me always trying to steer people north and west from that area but it is statistically highest in crime in our city.

Do you know which Memorial Hospital location he will be working at? If he's at the north location, definitely look further north for housing which I would recommend anyway if possible. If he's working at the main hospital, I would look at some of the apartment on the west side (like the Uintah & 19th area). Other possibilities are areas off North Academy from about Maizeland and points north. Both hospitals are pretty easy to get to from that general area.

Another area to look if he's at the north Memorial would be the Union area north of Academy (look it up on a map, it's a twisted street Academy). I now live off Union and the Vickers/Dublin area and it's not so bad at all (went from a house for 11 years to an apartment - sob!).

As for the jobs in nursing, I am sure you will find one. I am not in that market but it seems that there are a ton of listings in the Gazette's classifieds for those in health care.

Good luck!

Pueblo - not far from Springs, but depends on what part of town you live in. If you live south of the Springs, maybe 30-35 minutes to Pueblo, if you live up north, it could be 50 minutes.

I am an 8 yr LPN and work is difficult to find unless you want to work nursing home or home health. I would steer you towards the Associate RN program instead. Lot more money, almost same job, lot more respect!
