Ski Pikes Peak sounds VERY interesting! I signed up at the website but was not able to access the financials/stock information. Is it not yet available? Would like more information please.

Sorry about that, Pookie, and for my late reply! I just received notice from City-Data that there was a comment added to the thread.

We definitely want to get that information to you! Are you still having a problem? If so, please contact me directly via telephone or e-mail listed in my profile. If I post contact info here, a moderator may delete it.

The Resort at Pikes Peak just launched a "Name a Ski Run" contest. Check it out on the website or facebook page for skipikespeak (in my profile data).

This is cool. Will there be a place for cabins? How long of a drive will it be from Colorado Springs and Pueblo? Will it be a big resort with resturants etc?

It's a little too early to spill all the beans, Josseppie, but here's a blurb from our Facebook info page to whet your appetite:

We provide skiing, snowboarding, and year-round family recreation with thrilling panoramic vistas from the west side of Pikes Peak. Located off of Hwy 67, near The Crags and Mueller State Park -- 10 miles north of Cripple Creek -- we are passionate about being good stewards of “America’s Mountain.” Our ultimate goal is to be a self-sustaining, energy-generating facility completely off the energy grid.

I suggest mapping the directions using mapquest or google with your address as a starting point and Mueller State Park as the destination. That should give you a pretty good idea about drive time/distance.

Do you really think 140" of snow will suffice? They better have a lot of snowmaking. RP

Yes, proveick, we plan to utilize snow-making equipment and, in case you were wondering, all water rights are privately owned and will not impact the community whatsoever.

Great question. I was wondering that myself. Isn't that kind of what killed the Broadmoor ski area...lack of snow?

I live in the area. Last winter there was not enough snow to go cross country skiing in Mueller State Park. Yes we might get 100+ inches of snow each winter, but that is Sept through May and it usually melts quickly. We'll get 2" overnight but then it is gone by 11:00am. The snow doesn't stay. Good luck with the third attempt at a ski area on Pikes Peak. I actually think the skipikespeak people are pulling our leg.

Hopefully not as it would be nice to have a ski resort in that area.
