Fort Carson Housing?
I apologize if anyone is annoyed by me asking a military housing question on here, but I've searched for a more appropriate place to post this question, and haven't been able to find one.
I was wondering if anyone has experience with the housing on Fort Carson? Specifically, Iroquois Village? I'd really love to hear any input anyone has on Fort Carson's housing. Thanks in advance!!

Beth, only thread we seem to have on housing at Fort Carson is this one but it's for another housing area. We know the Army has spent close to $2B to upgrade many things on-post these past several years but not sure how much of that went into housing, though I recall some of it did.
If you find out anything on Iroquois Village, please consider updating this thread so we can have something on the topic. Thanks!

Doesn't the Iroquis village attend Mtnside Elementary? I used to work at Mtnside, great staff, good school system. The hardest part was the high turnover, as soon as I got used to my kids, 2 months rolled by and wham they were gone already. It makes teaching so hard because you are starting from scratch with your students so often. I also had the impression that it was the lower income area. The women came to school picking up their kids dressed like hoochie mammas in hopes to bag someone. Who? Not sure, but nothing else explained the 4 inch heels, short mini skirt, and cleavage like the grand canyon.

Mike and Froggin, thanks for info. This is the link to the housing area Balfour Beatty Communities. I guess I'm just looking for someone who lives there (or has visited there) to give more insight. I'm wondering if it's well built, well maintained, and if being on the waiting list for a 3br is for this neighborhood, or if they will put us in navajo village (which is not as nice, but for the same paygrade). We are currently at Bragg, where there is a HUGE range in housing for the same pay grade (under 1300 sqft to over 2000, paying the same amount), and I'm unwilling to pay our full bah for something that's not worth it.....

I am pretty sure that that's the village you see right next to Mtnside and from what I can tell, don't bother. The turn over rate is high for a reason- look in Fountain or Security/Widefield for housing. You can get into a house for $900 and up (rent). Good luck!

armywifeyand mom-of-2,
I don't want to give you incorrect info, so I would call the housing office 719-579-1606 and ask them your question (I'm guessing it depends on what housing is offered for your husband's rank). I do know that with two children we are only being offered a 3 bedroom home, and do not qualify for a 4 bedroom unless we have another child. It's definitely annoying that it's different at every post (we're at Bragg where some people with no children live in 4 bedroom homes). Sorry I couldn't give you a more definite answer!

We just found out we're PCSing to to Ft Carson in January and I just got off the phone with housing. She told me there's an 8-12 month waiting list right now so just a heads up. As soon as you have orders get on the waiting list.
armywifeyandmom: I'm pretty sure they changed the policy a couple of years ago army wide about sharing rooms: if they're different genders they get their own room no matter how close in age they are. but yeah I'd call housing just to be sure

The wait for CGO housing is easily a year. Schriever AFB has brand new housing available to folks stationed at Carson though, due to the new construction and their low occupancy rates.
How is the drive from from Schriever to Carson/Colorado Springs? I was told it would take about 20-30 minutes on Bradley.
Anybody familiar with the base? I heard there is no px or commissary yet...

Iroquois Village is a very nice and newer village on post, right next to the middle school. Right now the elementary school is Patriot but they are building a new elementary school that I assume Iroquois Village will use. I have visited two different size homes in that village and they are both very nice. The front yards are very beautiful and well taken care of. The back yards are very small, the neighborhood was built tight but that is the only big drawback I have noticed. Iroquois Village is one of the nicer villages on post, I would go there in a heartbeat over the Widefield, Security and Fountain area. You can find very nice houses in those areas cheaper than your BAH but the houses are just as close together and you dont have post regulations when it comes to noisey dogs and neighbors!
