Writer looking for secluded cabin
Hello!
I am a freelance writer looking to move to Colorado. Because I work from home, my main goal is to rent a comfortable place with a nice view and lots of privacy. I don't want to be completely cut off from civilization, but a wooded area in a quiet town would be ideal. My dream is to find a log cabin to rent. Of course, I am a writer and thus poor. I'd like to find a cabin for roughly $1,000 per month to rent.
Any suggestions as to where I might look?
Thanks so much.

Not much is secluded until you start going up 24 outside of Colorado Springs towards Woodland Park. I am not sure of the rents in those areas but they are getting more and more expensive with each passing year.
Woodland Park and surrounding might offer just what you desire and with C Springs a quick drive you still have access to bigger city ammenities when you need them.
Good luck.

I, too, am a freelance writer. I live in Falcon and have an unobstructed view of Pikes Peak for inspiration. Every place out here has the same view. I'm sure there are houses here you could rent for that price range. Check Homes for sale and apartments for rent – Move.com. If you find a forest setting more inspirational, Black Forest might work, but I'm not sure you'd find that price range.

Thanks for the advice. I'm deciding between Oregon and Colorado at the moment. I've spent some time in Oregon, but have never been to Colorado. I suppose everyone on this board is a bit biased, but how do you like Colorado?

If you're set on any one area, and just want seclusion in a wooded mountain area, why not check out the Beulah area, east of Pueblo.

Secluded Cabin
I would suggest towns as you're going up Ute Pass into the mountains - Cascade, Green Mountain Falls, Woodland Park - that's a decent amount you have to pay for rent ... I'm sure you'll be able to find something.
Then of course there's Manitou Springs, a quaint little "artsy" town (where I am) - there are some funky little places here.

Hmmmm....Oregon or Colorado....that's a tough choice. I've never lived in Oregon, only visited. I think it depends on what's important to you. Either place will give you an inspirational setting for writing. Climate, population density, access to publishing resources, ability to enjoy another other interests you might have ... etc. I don't think you could go wrong with either place.

Divide is pretty secluded and there are a lot of log cabins. The views are beautiful and the trees are very colorful in the fall. Winter comes early and leaves late, but most homes there are on an acre lot, in a subdivision, but you'll have lots of privacy. The ZIP code for Divide is 80814. At the intersection of Hwy 24 and 67 is a shopping plaza of sorts with a small grocery; the Post Office, Sheriff's substation, medical clinic, and other businesses. But once you get away from the intersection, it's pretty quiet and secluded. Some subdivisions you might check out are Grandview Estates right in Divide, Highland Lakes about 6 miles from Divide, Indian Creek, Tranquil Acres, Sherwood Forest, and others.
Divide Chamber of Commerce
This might help.
