Advertisements

I am from Albuquerque (31 years worth) and have been in the Springs for about 9 years.

My stand is that the food in the Springs is not exactly to die for. Until now. I found a tiny little place in Security on Main called Vi's Take Out (719) 391-8257. The place is tiny and the owners lived in Albuquerque for many years. This is the only place in town that has anything close to the red chile I was used to in Albuquerque. And this stuff is to die for. Like red chile should be. Anyone from Abq will know what I mean.

I do not mean to advertise on here, but rather to provide a service to anyone that wants seriously good food. I just tried it today and aim to go back for a burger as the owner said that the burgers are pretty much their main thing. They have an open face burger smothered in chile and cheese that looks like it is straight from heaven.

They have an article from the Gazette on the wall and it's a great review. Whether or not you like it, the chile there is exactly what you find all over Albuquerque. Awesome!

Can't go wrong w/ an In N Out Burger!
There's one in Phoenix? I'm heading there next month for vacation!

Default Altitude Sweets Bakery

Found a new bakery today, Altitude Sweets, down off Powers / N. Carefree, a few doors down from the huge Colorado Liquor Outlet. Everything baked on-site. Very ambitious list of items, including Kolaches, pastries, breads. Military discount on Wednesday. Sampler boxes for business meetings. Special orders. They've some "best of" awards for the orange rolls and cinnamon rolls.

Amery: Did you get to IN-N-OUT Burger in Phoenix?

Two new places, haven't tried them yet.

In the Promenade Shops at Briargate, next to Ted's Montana Grill, there now is a Bird Dog BBQ and right next to it is a Sushi place. I park in the REAR lot when visiting Ted's, as the spots by the "bell tower" give the shortest possible walk.

MIKE FBE: Yes I got to the In-N-Out in Scottsdale when I was on vacation there in June. Wonderful and super busy as always. I recommend getting the Animal fries if you can - it's their fries with their special sauce, cheese and grilled onions on top. Gotta eat it w/ a fork.

I just went home to So Calif last week and had In-N-Out again. People who live there don't realize how good it is until they are gone - thus my sister rolls her eyes when I say I have to eat there before I leave.

Smashburger :: Every City's Favorite Burger Place - TX
Smashburger is excellent but not cheap, it is one of the best tasting hamburgers I have had. I read in the Gazette Friday 11/6 they are trying some new menu items just in the Colorado restaurants. BTW, if you didn't know, they opened up a new Smashburger in the new University Center on Nevada off I-25.

Group: The former Fatburger at 7465 N. Academy (near Jason's Deli, etc) has been replaced by a new burger joint called "Crave" which is operated by a person from Castle Rock.

I hear the new / nearby "Big Fat Greek Restaurant" is a disaster, that coming from a couple we know who tried it and, as they described their experience, it sounded like the meal/service from hell.

Anyone been to either one of these?

The concept sounds like it is ripe making for a hellish experience.

Thanks for the tip! I agree with you regarding COS food and ABQ's!
