Default Trick or treating?

Probably a silly question but when does it begin and end? The only information I could find on the net was from 4 years ago.

There are no hard and fast rules. In my neighborhood, I see the itty bitty kids come out as early 4 p.m. sometimes. But I'd say "standard" times are sunset +2 to 2.5 hours, so, say 6-ish to maybe 8:30; some people might start to get a little annoyed past 9p.m.

We loved taking our kids to Heritage down in Ftn. So many kids trick or treating that it was hard to drive down the street. Lots of decorated houses too. Typically kids started at dusk and things wrapped up around 8:30ish. Everyone pooped out! This year we are tricking in VA which makes us miss CO. Oh, and don't forget to wrap yourself in a sheet like a burrito and get a free Chipolte burrito tonight!

I had a pretty good turn-out of young-uns in my neighborhood, but I have never seen kids trick or treating by car? Mini-vans would pull up in front of my house and park and the kids would jump out, hit the houses and jump back in and the parent would drive them to another area.

There were even points where cars would be lined up, moving slowly from house to house. There was traffic in my nieghborhood! What's that all about?

Not sure, but I had to drive to a friend's house around 6:30 pm for non-Halloween reasons. I drove no more than 10 mph in a 25 mph zone and some clown (actually I think it was a fully grown ghoul of some sort) jumped out in front of me and yelled 'SLOW DOWN!' instead of keeping himself and his kids out of the street while I passed.

What was I supposed to do, go zero? It's like he was just looking for any passing car to yell at about speeding... 'Look, an evil car driver! Get your pitchforks!' ...Mob mentality

We don't really have sidewalks in Palmer Lake, but we do have shoulders.
