Gleneagle Area
My family is relocating to COS around the first of the year and I have learned os much from reading this forum! It's terrific! We're looking at the Gleneagle area...any thoughts? I like the idea of being in D20 schools (2 sons that are 9 and 12). Any good kids' ice hockey leagues in that area? We'll probably be renting a home for at least a year to start. I would appreciate any feedback.

Hockey is a huge deal here. My nephew is in a local hockey league and has been since he was a peewee - just turned 12 this year.
Gleneagle is a nice area. Off the highway but pretty close to Academy Blvd so shopping isn't a big deal and the Monument area has all you need to and that's a quick shot up I-25 too.
Nice views and District 20 is an excellent school district.
Welcome to CS.

Search on Hockey, we have a thread on that topic which lists at least kid's leagues. There is college hockey at USAF Academy, which is located at the Gleneagle exit of I-25 (exit 156) and also at Colorado College, downtown (all of 25 minutes driving).

Mike from back east - I couldn't find anything on this forum about hockey for kids. I found a little about some adult leagues, but nothing for children. Also, does anyone have information on transferring into the schools here? I have no idea how the curricula will match up to what we have here in NC. I feel certain the schools in COS are better, but I don't know what that will mean for my children in a transfer situation. THANKS!

Yes, CO schools are far superior than those out here on the East Coast. The public education system actually makes decisions that make sense and follow laws as they are meant to be followed. Additionally, CO is pro-active verses reactive. They are on the leading edge of what the nation is doing in the education field. I think you will be pleasantly pleased. Good luck!

For hockey, you might try the Colorado Sports Center. It's on the west side of I-25 in Monument, just north of the Baptist exit.
