I've heard wonderful things about the Crags too, my only concern is you can't make reservations there. Probably not a big deal when you go during the week, but it could be difficult on the weekend.

We went hiking on The Crags trail this weekend. I am looking forward to camping there this summer. Looked like there were plenty of nice spots!
We also took a drive to Rampart reservoir and the campgrounds looked nice. Plus we spotted some elk!!

Default Looking for Best tent camping sites around Colorado Springs

Hi, We are a group of close to 15 people looking for a great camping place around Colorado springs (50-60 mile radius). We are first timers to camping and do not know much about Colorado other than that it is famous for great camping sites. From the research I have made here is the list I know of. Can someone please help me suggest which one is the best, even if it is outside the below list?

1) Garden Of the Gods Park
2) Mountaindale Campground
3) Saddlehorn Campground
4) Woodland Park

To be more specific, we are looking for a campground that is not very touristy and at the same time not very primitive. Somewhere in between, if you know what I mean! A few people here and there is okay but not a flock of them all!
Thanks a lot!
