With that criteria, my suggestion is Woodland Park (30 minutes west of Colorado Springs). The large lot land available in Colorado Springs is a sprawling mess without much close by. Woodland Park is a beautiful town with all of the conveniances and if you both work out of your homes anyway, occasional travel to the Springs or Denver should not be an issue.

Sadly there is an underlying 'distaste' for out of towners here that have no interest in having you "spoil their state" (any more) with your bringing-your-problems-with-you-to-my-town mentality. That is crazy... This City has more people in it that are from somewhere else. There are very few "natives" even though they ones who are like to show it and exclaim it like it something great. All of these "natives" need to just give me a break. The overall City is very welcoming, so please don't let the "natives" lead you to believe otherwise.

Colorado is rather turning CA-like, with developments jamming people on top of each other.
Woodland Park/Florrisant/Divide is a great idea. If your guy can work from home the world is yours! Take your time are do alot of research--in CO, NM, WY, UT etc.

Woodland park would be great. But if you want to stay in C/S you can find homes w/ land in the middle of town. It all depends on how much you want to spend. There are some great areas w/ land that not alot of people know about.
