Default weather in May?

I will be visiting the COS/Manitou Springs area in early May for the first time. What can I expect the weather to be ? Would you recommend a nice place to stay in Manitou Springs?

Thanks.

You should be prepared for a wide variety of possible weather in May. Snow is still possible, as are rain/thunderstorms, or beautiful 70-degree blue sky days. Definitely bring a light/medium jacket and shoes that can handle a little wet, just in case. Check the forecast when it gets closer to your arrival.

Snow is definitely possible, especially in the higher elevations. It's always wise to plan for and pack clothing that you can layer. You can encounter almost anything here, at any time of the year. While it's warm and sunny down in town - there's still lots of snow and cold on top of Pikes Peak.

Manitou has lots of nice little bed and breakfast places, as well as locally-owned motels and chains. You might want to look at the website for Manitou to check out the lodging available. There aren't any that are scary or to be avoided, IMHO. A lot of the locally owned places are older but have a lot of character. Manitou Ave. is the main drag, and that's where a lot of them are located. There's a brand new Comfort Inn. The Red Wing Motel (locally owned) is nice because it's close to town and also close to one of the entrances to Garden of the Gods.

For great places to eat breakfast check out Spice of Life and European Cafe ... both are great.
