Just curious about rainfall for the area. I made my first visit here this weekend to check out the area. I have been to Colorado several times but never in the spring. I know it tends to be brown here. CS gets about half the annual rainfall of where I'm from in KS. I figured it would be a little greener here since it is spring. Is it normally this brown in spring or has it been a drier than normal spring? Does everything look completely baked by the end of summer or do the afternoon thunderstorms help to preserve some greenery? Thanks.

Here are some interesting stats:
Record Precipitation Data -- Colorado Springs

This is a semi-arid climate. Everything is pretty well baked by the end of summer, and often there are burn bans on the Front Range, due to the dry conditions. The summer t-storms, when present, can be pretty spotty and due little, really, to relieve the situation.

ymmv,
