Hi,

I might possibly be moving to Durango for a job. Here are a some questions to satisfy my curiosity;

What is the political atmosphere like? Conservative, liberal or mixed bag?

What grocery stores are in town. Any good fishing? Any public lands where I can shoot?

Thanks

There's quite a bit of fishing around that area. Right smack in the middle of Durango is the Animas river which is pretty good for stocked trout (rainbows.)

Outside of town, in the San Juan mountains, there are a number of large and small lakes and streams. Some of these are accessible via dirt road, others are accessible via hiking. There's some good trout fishing, including wild fish, to be had particularly in the areas that are accessible only by hiking.

there's the Piedras river located between Durango and Pagosa Springs.

Also there's the Vallecitos reservoir which is a large lake that has pike and trout.

As far as grocery stores, there's Albertson's and City Market. Typical large grocery stores. There are a few Natural/Organic smaller grocery stores, as well. And Walmart, too.
I don't fish, but isnt this area one of the best for fly fishing?
Not sure about the political thing but there is lots of land for hunting.

I was curious about organic groceries.

I love to fish.

Not much of a hunter but thanks for letting me know. Too much good meat at the grocery store and the animals kind of smell when you gut them.
I like shooting at targets. I think I'm going to take up archery. Less noise, more challenge, people don't get freaked-out as much.

Thanks for all the info!
