Default Suggestions? Tent Camping West of Crested Butte

We've been camping at Lost Lake campgrounds before and loved the area, but this year they are closed down for renovations. Does anyone have any suggestions for other locations in this same general vicinity? Is Lake Irwin Campground generally full? We have two tents and would like access to water, though it doesn't necessarily have to be potable. Thanks! Joe

Does it have to be west of CB? What about the Taylor Reservoir area? Some nice campgrounds there.

I lived in CB for a few years, I worked at the ski hill as a sno~cat operator.

The Lake Irwin camp site is can fill up on the busy weekends but if you get there early in the day you should find a spot. You will have to drive over the dam/spillway.(it's like a small stream crossing)
The camp sites are right on the lake.

An other area that is close to town is cement creek area.
Go to CB south and take the cement creek rd.

There are a couple of areas to choose from and some clandestine camping sites also.
(there is a hot spring in the cement creak area that the locals use to hang out at.)

Have fun.
