Which city/town to move too in CO...
Hello, I don't know if this thread has been done before, I am sure it has. But I don't have the time to search all the archives. (sorry) I am currently living in Ireland with my wife, who is an Ireland native. I grew up in NJ and moved to Ireland for a change. I was told the the IT industry was booming in ireland and things would be grand. As it turns out I have not been able to get a job for almost 8 months now. I have lived in Windham NY for 2 years and loved it!! So now I am think of moving to Colorado, I have always wanted to go there and now I am ready. But my thing is I don;t know what city/town has a good IT industry and Art. ( my wife is an artists) If anyone can give me some advice that would be wonderful. I have looked into Colorado Springs and that seems like a lovely place. Any other towns or small cities?? I would commute to Dever but do not want to live in a city, love the country. I would like to live not far from the mountains but not far from work in the IT industry. Also any info on relocation websites for colorado. Thank you!
Andrew

The vast majority of IT/tech related jobs are in the Denver and Boulder areas. Colorado Springs and Fort Collins make up the balance. So, you can say that virtually all tech jobs in the state are located within about 70 miles of downtown Denver.
It is true that a few of the mountain towns have some small startup IT companies, populated mostly by twentysomething snowboard "bums" who support their passion for sports by programming when they're not playing in the mountains. However, these are the exceptions.
Since you don't like Denver, I'd say look into somewhere in or around Fort Collins, Boulder, and Colorado Springs. If you do decide to go on Colorado Springs, the most art-friendly areas by far would be either its redeveloping downtown area or the city's westside including Manitou Springs.

I wonder why you couldn't find a job for eight months in a booming industry.
Could it be attention to detail?

Or perhaps motivation and persistence?

Andrews I am an artist and my hubby is in IT, you need to live in Denver or Colorado Springs. Next year I am even doing Cherry Creek arts festival, its huge. Your wife would probably be miserable living in a smaller town where there are few artists/cultured people. Denver is more liberal, Co Springs is really right wing religious, I vote for Denver! Lots of IT work, both downtown and at DTC
