Im taking a road trip from Texas to Colorado in late October. We want to stay in Colorado Springs for a couple of nights and Denver for a couple of nights. We plan to hit the casinos in Blackhawk and Cripple Creek but our main reason to visit Colorado is the scenery.

Will it be snowing in late October?

What are must see's for the co.springs/den area as far as scenery?

I will be there for the bronco v raider game also...will I have to buy tix in advance?

Also I want some good food. Food that says this is colorado. Im more into the mom and pop type of places rather than the touristy trap type places.

thanks for all the info..

Not consistently in the Front Range cities (Denver, CO Springs.) Weather is highly variable. You may see no snow. You may see light flurries. You may see a heavy snowfall.

In the mountains and higher elevations, the chance of snowing increases substantially.

Pike's Peak in the CO Springs area.
The Eisenhower tunnel and surrounding area outside Denver.

I can't think of any restaurants that says this is Colorado. Colorado doesn't have a unique style of food. .... Except maybe the microbrewery scene. There's a number of excellent, local microbrews.

By all means, get Bronco's tix in advance. They also offer some at half price, but those are will-call only and once you get them at the window you must go straight into the stadium, i.e., can't turn around and resell/scalp them to someone.

Otherwise, 80skeys has it nailed.

Eating in the COLO SPGS area usually means going five miles west to Manitou Springs which sits at the base of Pikes Peak and visiting the StageCoach Inn, Craftwood Inn, Adams Mountain Cafe or any of several other local eateries.

In Denver you'd want to hit the Buckhorn Exchange for some real local stuff.

In the high country away from the Front Range above 7000-8000 ft winter will already be making it's presence felt.

Colorado I think has many great places to eat and I'd say for distinctive cuisine a lot of it is based around beef and game or hispanic influenced foods.

The Broncos game you will need tickets before hand from ticketmaster. Technically the games are a sell out. The easiest tickets to get are the club level seats but those are $300 and up. I did those last year and the seats are nice with a private area behind the seats with food vendors and places to sit. Reminds me of a nice airline terminal actually. If you are definitely going the earliest you get tickets the better.
