TABOR. Colorado has a hard enough time funding more important things like schools and highway construction. The fair is a luxury item. If they don't get their finances in order it will be shut down.

Again they have been saying that since my grandparents were kids and it has not been shut down and will not be. Sure the reason was not TABOR but they had a different "excuse".

We went to the Fair last night and had a good time. Didn't have to ride the rides with the nephews this time thank goodness, Dog gettin too old.

Food, not such a bargin. Got the Passkey to keep the wallet from getting dinged up too bad, rough on the stomach though. Wife got the bacon-wrapped asparagus and it was really pretty good. Six bucks for a couple of those, but considering 3.00 for a bottled water, not a bad deal. I considered the bacon wrapped hot dog, but 11 bucks? Not gonna happen. 15.00 to 18.00 for some bbq? No thanks, I'll wait for a piece of funnel cake later.

The 4-h stuff and Ag building stuff was as good as I've seen in years, srsly.

Avoid the temper-pedic mattress display. Folks are rude, especially the curly headed punk. He wanted my wife, MrsGowdog to lay back on one, she said naw. Truth be told, they were all filthy dirty and she just din want to. He got rude with her and tried to lecture her about when you try on shoes, do you put them on halfway, she retorted that, when it comes to trying to sell new shoes, she recommends not sticking them in one's mouth.

Music sounded good after the rodeo, right when a nice sprinkling of rain came through.

I was in the state fair parade yesterday and went to the fair last night. We walked around ate a lot and well drank some adult beverages. Overall a great day. Today I will take it easy and go again tomorrow night.

Pueblo County and state MJ tax money is going to be used to help the fair! I think this is a fantastic idea and support it 100%. Plus this is just the start imagine how much money we will be bringing in by 2020.

“That not only funds an important program for youth — who the more active they are in FFA and 4-H, they are going to be less likely to engage in unhealthy lifestyles like drug and alcohol use — but also helps the bottom line of the Fair because it won’t show that portion of the Fair running in the red,”

It went on to say:

He said (Pace) the county also is set to give the Fair $500,000 from its marijuana excise tax for a “streetscape” project at the Fairgrounds

Any help would seem positive to try... try and keep your beloved fair in Pueblo. Trying to keep things real over here, I'm seeing that the opening gate attendance is down 19,000+ from that Friday.

The fair must improve drastically imo. What I saw last Saturday was slightly encouraging imo of course.

If Pueblo County is going to promote its Marijuana tax money to help the state fair, it ought to allow a Weed tent and Marijuana sculpture, maybe some Hemp products as well... maybe some 4H displays educating the public on its ag medical and financial/business and cultural benefits.

I'll be over here in the corner holding my breath .

Keep in mind that the "city" or more like it "township of Pueblo" overwhelmingly supports collecting proceeds from the sales of Recreational Marijuana in its surrounding county but wants nothing to do with the sales of it in city limits.

We'll see how this flies. Another blunder by your elected officials we'll see. But in the meantime, "we'd better start selling more weed."

It's a fairly complicated issue, isn't it? For one thing, it looks like many of the morons moving to Colorado solely for the weed trade are infact the smelly lazy hippies we thought they'd be. We got enough carney-rejects living in Pueblo already. Oh, but the bulk of pro-weed people all have Juris-doctorate PhDs, pull down 7 figures, and hoist up their communities with much service and grace, all from their mom's basement.

To the issue of Fair attendance, I do look at this. This Fair should be improving what it's done in years past by a huge margin, not fighting to break even... again! ... oh, imo of course.

I have found never to look at attendance till it's over. For example a number of the big acts are on the final weekend this year and that should push attendance up. The two concerts I am going too are Thursday and Sunday.

I won't get into the MJ debate here but to say I do like the idea of the county and state using some of that revenue to help the fair. The city should in the future after we pass it this year. Also I am all for the fair having MJ part of the fair but I can understand why they will take it slow.
