When it comes to having simply a lot of Asians around, I think your best bet will be Boulder. Granted, almost all of them are students and not permanent residents. One of the first things that my friends tell me about CU is how many Asian students there are.

But when it comes to being "Asian-friendly," you won't have a problem anywhere in this state, or at least you shouldn't. I've never heard of racism towards Asian groups here.

I noticed you replied saying that Westminster sounded good. I think you could follow through with that. It's a large town with a lot to choose from.

And of course you could always go to Seattle (my beautiful birthplace). It is more expensive... But you get what you pay for, unlike cities like Boston which are overpriced without any good reason to be. And if you're looking for a good-sized Asian population, you'll definitely find it there.

Yes, you would like Westminster. I grew up there and it does have a strong population of Asians now that the subject came up. I never really thought of it before like that. I consider Westminster people in general as my peers, neighbors, friends and associates.

I remember when I was younger the city itself really struggled economically for decades. This past decade we've seen a lot of transformations take place in the older areas. The school districts alone were "lacking" back in the day. The mall will be gone in the next 6 months too and although I find that sad, realistically, that's a good thing.

Now most of the older schools have been demolished and we have these big, beautiful, state-of-the art schools from K-12. The major boulevards have been remodeled and brand new stores are all over the place. It finally got a well deserved face lift. And besides all of that, you should check out Denver's annual Dragon Boat Festival! Welcome to the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival

I hope you find what you're looking for. I personally think you should be comfortable living anywhere you want to in Colorado. In general, we are not the type of people that are quick to discriminate (unless you throw the first stone. ) And from what I've been told by others, if at first you find us "standoff-ish" don't take it personally. That's just our nature. Just smile and "break the ice". You'll make friends fast here.

I am a Chinese too. One reason for me to move to here from Bay Area is that CO has less Asian people.

Most of the Asian population that lives on the western half of town are Vietnamese. The strong Vietnamese presence began after the Vietnam War, when many refugees were sponsored by groups living along Federal. The Vietnamese population grew so quickly, that a Catholic Vietnamese national church, Queen of Vietnamese Martyrs, was established in the mid 1970s on the west side of Lakeside. (A Catholic "national" church is one that has no parish boundaries and is established for a specific national group.) The church, with its Vietnamese language programs, masses, and support system, is a magnet for people from Vietnam, and consequently most Vietnamese have settled near this area and in West Denver.

The other Asian populations have created enclaves in Southern Aurora. In the area near Havana, Parker, and I-225, you will find concentrated populations of Chinese, Korean and some Southeast Asians. There is also a decent-sized population of Indians as well.

That's what I love about living in such a diverse city such as Denver. You can meet so many people from all over the globe here. I love the different cultures, the food they bring, the art, music and their history, it's just awesome. Hope that wasn't off topic. I was just sayin'...

The Vietnamese were conquered and oppressed by the Chinese for hundreds of years before Trung Hung Dao freed them, and China invaded Vietnam again in the late 1970s. Good luck being accepted in that community. Then too, memories are short and it's a new generation now.

Gonna chime in with much of the same. Definite Vietnamese influence in Denver, particular on Federal. Definite Korean influence in SW Aurora. Neither is a thriving mecca of Asian culture - small enclaves, most likely, but I've never noticed any prejudice. Denver/Aurora are pretty laid back cities when it comes to "race relations", i.e., I don't think most people notice race much.
