I have noticed that there is quite a bit of open space on the rise that separates Broomfield from Boulder. Is this open space intentional or have developers yet to build there?

When traveling along U.S. 36 it is breathtaking to come over the rise, see Boulder in the distance, and the mountains behind Boulder. It would be nice if that scene could stay the same.

I also traveled from Boulder to Golden via Colorado 93. The route was fascinating in that it travels through pretty rural territory but you can look off to the left (east) and clearly see the skyline of Denver. Is the rural space along the Colorado 93 corridor being preserved or has it also yet to become a victim to developers?

I guess I'm interested in this topic because of how rare land preservation for open space was in Las Vegas. If a developer wanted to build a housing development, they pretty much had free reign to any parcel of land desired.

It is intentional. There will be no development on that land. You can read more here: About Us - Description of Boulder County Parks and Open Space

More or less Ned is correct here. Not all of the areas the OP mentioned are in Boulder County or are part of BC Open Space.

That being said, there is some serious local resistance to those areas being developed. Folks have tried to put stuff in on 93 between Boulder and Golden and it always gets "shot down", so to speak. And thank goodness!
