I like Jim's photos. I also think he understands the issues this region faces, too--I think better than many of the Pollyannas who post around here. My comment was not a criticism of his post--just an observation of what the photos show that many people apparently did not or do not want to notice.

I understand where jazz is coming from and his post didn't bother me.

Hey you guys, perhaps you would be kind enough to enlighten me...what makes someone stating a fact and /or pointing out what is...grumbling? How does this ruin a thread?

A few weeks ago Jim9251 made a good point in regards to not getting any snow out of that system that went through the western slope a couple weeks ago. You know, the system that dumped three to four feet of snow in Silverton, on the south side of Red Mountain Pass. Ridgway got zip.

I remember winters from decades past Ridgway would have six inches of snow by Thanksgiving.

Three to four feet in Silverton at this time of the year? Normal, actually five to six feet is more like it. Ridgway with only a half foot? Not normal.

Jazzlover, while a very knowledgeable and intelligent poster on these boards, is like the Debbie Downer of City-Data. (SNL reference for you old timers)

The reality is the sky is not always falling. The world is not about to end. Colorado is not going to fall off the map. People come on here and post beautiful pictures of our region and all we get from Jazz is negativity. I am more of a forward optimistic thinker. Seeing the good in things makes life much more enjoyable. While this is not always possible in the world we live in, I believe it will help.

As for the Pollyanna reference... Thanks.

I also consider myself to be more of a forward optimistic thinker. Where I differ form you is that I'm also comfortable reading jazzlovers reality check posts. I often disagree with his viewpoint, but rather than complain about what he posts, I simply state my viewpoint without attempting to censor his viewpoint or resorting to calling him names.

I visit this forum because the wife and I are comparing several different areas for a move, of which Colorado is one (I'm already wincing) and I can, without fail, identify one poster because their negative tone shines through in every post they make. I have even devised a game which I encourage you all to play. I'll read through posts, and when I see a rain-cloud response, only then do I look to see the name of the person posting. And I'm always right about my hunch. For instance, I opened this thread to look at beautiful snow pics, never imagining that I was playing my new game, but then WHAMMY (sorry for the Ron Burgundy quote), I win again. How this thread could disintegrate so quickly takes a unique perspective: snow to Colorado sucks within a half-dozen posts. That's impressive!
I have honestly come to admire the tenacity of this person, however misguided I feel that they may be and I hope my tongue-in-cheek nature brings a smile to their face. Turn that frown upside down. (Inhales deeply) I am now ready to accept the punishment that is sure to be swift and harsh.
