Default Basement contractors

Does anyone know of a good company for basement finishing? We want to do it relatively simple and inexpensive. We are in the Littleton/Highlands Ranch area. Thanks!

Default Contractor problem

Does anyone know if there is any way to get your money back from a contractor who does poor work? We gave a guy a deposit of $1500 to hold for us for supplies for our basement refinishing. In the meantime, we had him put a door on our bathroom and it turned out that he does really lousy work. There are gaps in the molding and he chipped out of a piece of the frame. We have asked for our money back due to his workmanship and he is refusing to give it back. HELP!

Does anyone know if it is a law in Colorado that contractors need to have a license?

Thanks!

Does he not have one? Did you have a contract? I hate guys like that, gives guys like a my husband a bad name. I believe he needs a class B but I am not sure. he can get into trouble if he does need a license and you maybe out because you didntget proof. Go to the colorado gov website and check it out.

You might want to try Tom Martino's website at Referrallist.com :: Home. They screen merchants, contractors and service providers and will dump any that get too many unresolved complaints. Tom Martino is a consumer advocate known as "The Troubleshooter". He does segments on Fox 31 news and has a radio show.

Default contractors

That's funny. A friend of mine told me about that web site today! I had never heard of him until you both mentioned him. I sent them a quick note about this guy. I don't believe that he has a contractor's license. We kept asking him for the floor plan so we could go get a permit and he never gave us one. There is no way I was going to start this project without one! We did have a contract that states the money we put down was for materials and to hold the date.

In the meantime, we have found another awesome contractor who I have all the faith in the world in. I just want to get my money back from the unethical one.

Thanks!
