Both the official and my unofficial high was over 100 today. I had 104 but I'm not sure of the official. That makes today the 16th day over 100, well unofficially.

Unofficially the high today was 104 making this the 17th day over 100 this year. Officially I saw it was over 100 too but not sure of the exact high.

I've lost count of the official. I'd agree it was 100° at least today.

I'd say it's nearing 10 days over 100 so far, maybe 8 or 9.

Yes, per the National Weather Service, OFFICIALLY there have been 10 days of high temperatures exceeding 100 degrees in Pueblo this summer. Josseppi's "unofficial" temperature reports are inaccurate and of no value to anyone but himself. He probably takes his readings from the thermometer in his vehicle or from a Chinese-made plastic outdoor thermometer that he bought at Walmart for under ten bucks. Both are notoriously inaccurate. Why can't he report the official NWS temps if he feels it is necessary to keep everyone informed of the daily weather in Pueblo? It's not that difficult to navigate the official NWS site.

Like you, McGowdog, I live in Pueblo West, which is several hundred feet higher in elevation than downtown Pueblo or around City Park where Josseppi lives. We are typically a few degrees cooler in the summer and a few degrees warmer in the winter than downtown Pueblo. In fact, according to an acquaintance who lives less than a mile from me and who operates a weather station for Weather Underground (WU), there has been only ONE day over 100 degrees this summer in this part of Pueblo West: June 21. He uses sophisticated, expensive equipment approved by the NWS to report his data to WU. All of his equipment is certified and routinely checked for accuracy. Following are links to his monthly reports for June and July 2016, which show his OFFICIAL high temperature readings for each day in June and July (scroll two-thirds of the way down the page to the "Weather History Graph" and click on the "Table" tab to convert the data to a more readable format -- the first column shows the high temp for each day).

Keep in mind that the official reading is taken east of town and under shade over gravel and who lives their life like that lol. Because of that I always did my best to figure out what the temperature was in the city and in the summer I found it is usually a few degrees warmer. Now I understand it's unofficial and report it as such but I have it down to a science why I am consistent on my reporting. Like today it is already unoffically over 100.

Whatever your "down to a science" method is, it's wildly inaccurate. Here's a guy that lives just a few blocks from you and reports official weather data to Weather Underground using NWS-sanctioned equipment:

Note that he has reported only ONE day in which the high temperature has exceeded 100 degrees this summer. You claim there have been SEVENTEEN such days. I think that equipment certified by the National Weather Service is far more accurate than the five dollar plastic thermometer that you found on the clearance rack at Walmart. May I suggest that if you can't report accurate information, don't report it at all.

I don't know anything about him so I'm not going to comment on what he does.

I am a weathe geek and have been doing this my whole life. I use to keep weather logs when I was in middle school but was into weather even in elementary school. In fact on face book people in pueblo like my forecast more then the tv lol.

Now I get how and why the NWS gets their temp data. I just don't find it relevant to my life. I don't live under a tree over gravel and you can tell it's hotter when you walk out in the sun from the shade. Not much but a few degrees. The difference I get when I say the high is 101 while the official is around 98. Why I have spent so much time refining how I get my weather data to be as intellectually honest as I can be even if I am the one only who cares. Take today. So far the unofficial high has been 104 making this the 17th day I have shown over 100 and i don't expect it to get much hotter as once Pueblo gets over 100 the rate of increase slows dramatically. But to be accurate I do report it as my unofficial reading and as of now do not know what the official temp is.

I know the official high was over 100 but not sure what it was. Unofficially the high I had was 105 making it the 18th day over 100 this year.
