Some people always see the glass as half empty.

The unemployment numbers will keep more Californians from moving here.

I'm continually reminded we Coloradans can be an unfriendly, bigoted, finger-pointing bunch. For those without family connections, it was never easy finding work here, even back when the economy was supposedly going strong, so its certainly no surprise times are especially tough here when times are tough everywhere.

Despite it all, I remain 100% convinced CO still has the best combination of quality-of-life factors anywhere in the U.S. Is it perfect? Certainly not. Was it ever perfect? I think not. Is it still a darn good and arguably best place left to pursue happiness? I vote aye. Sorry if my presence here offends you but its still a free country so I believe I'll stay.

You seem to be offended with a post or a poster here, yet... you just entered the conversation now.

So it appears you're choosing to be offended by something. Hmmm...

I'm continually reminded we Coloradans can be an unfriendly, bigoted, finger-pointing bunch.
We were talking about Colorado's new unemployment record and you're bringing up "unfriendly", "bigoted", and "finger-pointing". Wow. Are you from California or something? That must be it. In any case, I'm glad this is Colorado and not California. Another thread for another day.

You say something about family connections? I just got a new job and am very happy, relieved, and full of hope... for my family. But prior to that, I worked with family for nearly 7 years... just to see my mom, dad, and myself get laid off. Working for family was utter hell and I don't recommend it for anybody. The only one who makes out in that situation is the one at the top... family or not. If that person at the top is selfish, good for them, but that kind of selfishness is something I am glad I don't live with as well.

To be fair, business was great in 2007, started to wind down in 08, and the wheels fell of in 09. But when times were good, I traveled as much as 180 days out of the year and spent much of that time in Reynosa Mexico.

If you were a loving family member, would you send your own brother to that part of Mexico in these times?

So... getting hired because you're family is not always what it's cracked up to be. If you have the option, I would run away from that opportunity. Our family is just now starting to recover from that fiasco. That's my experience with this topic.
