Hey! Lighten up. I was just making a joke. As for Scotty sitting around with a radar gun, somebody used to, anyhow. But it's been a year or so since I've driven through Ridgway, and the cops may have gone on to better things.

BTW, I had an encounter with a Ridgway cop who was one of the most decent, compassionate law officers I've ever met. Doesn't mean I can't poke a little fun now and then, though.

My vote is for Ridgway. I love it there, you love it there. Plus I love reading your posts about it and the surrounding Ouray county. If you do move there a bunch of us, myself included, can live vicariously through your posts. Anyway, good luck making the decision.

Yeah, I remember that fake cop, too. I was fooled the first time I saw it until I took a closer look as I crept past at 20 mph. Ridgway sure knows how to get those speeding tourists to slow down and toe the line!

66 degrees and sunshine today. So nice I washed the Mustang, and drove around with the top down. Then went to Confluence Park and went fishing. Of course the every single day HOWLING winds came up which made it miserable there. Well the BIG attraction in Delta is the new Maverick gas station on 92 and 50, which is packed. And sadly the Miller's Deitch Haus buffet place on 92 is closed. All the farmers are plowing their fields and construction on the HWY 50 bypass has begun, sort of.

Delta is about the last place I'd recommend for anyone to move to in Colorado, especially if one is retired and looking to have a good time. I'm sure it has some redeeming features for the few that live there and have for a long time, but otherwise...

Delta seems nice enough when driving thru the main street on US 50, but driving thru Delta, enroute to elsewhere, is about all I've ever desired to do in Delta.

Oh, good, the dream lives on. Just to explain the sudden comment, I left Colorado fifteen years ago for a job in my home state of Florida, somehow got stuck back here (who knew?), and now counting down until retirement so I can return. Still a year to go, but your posts and others like it (found through "Colorado retirement" search) have kept me positive about my decision. Last visit there had lots of snow and ice, no winter tires or awd, so crept around the roads like a prowl car, and loved every minute. Thank you for the great photos and descriptions. Even though my ideal place probably has fewer cows and more people....
