salida lodging
I'm a former Salidan and can recommend a motel on Hwy. 50 called The Rainbow Inn. It's nothing special, just clean and affordable. I stayed there this spring on my way through--friendly owners, good location. Bongo Billy's is a local spot for live music, gourmet coffee, etc. Cotopaxi doesn't have much for lodging, maybe a cabin here and there tucked away. I haven't been to Westcliffe in several years so don't know about lodging there. What a beautiful area you'll be visiting. The summer crowds should be thinned out and if you go in late Sept. the Aspen should be turning. Enjoy!

Westcliffe, there are B&Bs and a number of places to lodge and is my very favorite place. Cotopaxi --no, as far as I know, nothing in lodging nor to do other than sight seeing and maybe rafting. But there is lodging at Howard before Cotopaxi and of coarse Canon City at the bottom of the Arkansas canyon and Salida at the top. There are are few other places along the river on the way, all tiny. Google them. That will give you some of the info you are looking for.

I am told that the B&B's are nice. I don't stay in Westcliffe, I am not that far away. When I head for the Wet Mountain Valley for more than a day trip, we are camping or riding. Sorry I am not better help. Did you google? Try Bed and Breakfast, Westcliffe, Colorado. They will list Silvercliffe too. That is but maybe a 1/2 blink east on same main street. Cannot tell when you leave one into the other unless you read a sign.

Going to Westcliffe this week for ten days to try it out as a retirement location. Still looking at properties for retirement. Want to build a active/passive solar home. Does anyone have experience with this?
