We were flat broke, and breaking piggy banks when we first moved here in 2007. That lasted about 4 months, until I got a better job.

I'm just waiting for it to happen again.

With all due respect, if everyone listened to Jazzlover, we'd probably all run off the cliffs at Mesa Verde like a bunch of lemmings. There's always a degree of risk to moving to a completely new place and starting from scratch. I've lived in Colorado for more than 50 years and have at various times found myself without a job and once even without a home. But the bad times never lasted and I've always managed to get back on my feet.

That said, I'd be wary of pulling up roots and moving anywhere without a good job waiting for me first - especially given the current economic climate.

Hehe, I got my job threatened the other day (the only reason I said that).

We moved here to Colorado Springs 6 months ago when my husband retired from the military and we'd never even had a chance to visit first! He received his first job offer 18 days later (and has since found an even better job). We did extensive research on the area and the job market before we moved and had savings to fall back on so we knew we would be fine.

We love Colorado and definitely plan to stay in the Denver/Colorado Springs area, buy a home next year and put down roots.
