I am moving back after spending 7 years in Dallas. it does cost a little more to live in Colorado but I think it's worth it. The cold doesnt bother me much, you simply wear heavier clothes and it's fine. Kind of a no brainer. besides it's so nice to be sitting in a hot tub and an by an outside fire during a snow fall.
I also miss the fresh air and smell of pine trees, something I dont get here in Dallas. Here is hot thick stale air and a mix of cow patties and car fumes. You get used to it though and after awhile and you start to enjoy it. ![]() I have met very few people who didnt like denver, I think the nightlife has improved a lot since I lived there. I think that was the only complaint for some people under 30. I can't wait to move back! |

We figured moving to Dallas was fine for us, since we didn't plan on having kids. But with kids in the picture now we don't want them raised in texas. We weren't and do not want that for them either. |

I can't recall ANY move I've ever made from one location to the next that wasn't accompanied by a tinge of regret. No place has ever been perfect, but rather a composite of positive and negative elements. Moving to a new place means giving up everything from the old place, the negative AND the positive. Wether or not I'm aware of the regret depends so much upon my mood of the moment. At times I feel like I'm in heaven, and at other times, all I can see are the shortcomings of the place that seemed so perfect a moment ago. It's not the place. It's my inner perspective. From an all things considered perspective, just about EVERY move I've ever made has been a good one. One of the very best has been my move form Virginia Beach, Virginia to Grand Junction, Colorado a year ago.

i like to be the devil's advocate when everyone posts about how great this place is. not everyone loves living in colorado. |

Colorado is great if you are into the outdoors, hiking, camping, skiing etc.. otherwise it can be boring. |

And I regret visiting there. It's awful what's happened to Colorado. It used to have charm. Especially the Western Slope. Now it's a JV version of Texas. Gas wells every 150 feet, unbearable heat, meth, and sprawl that's ghettoizing the little downtowns. But at least Halliburton's hiring!

I don't know which part of Colorado you were in, but where I visit SE Denver, had not changed much except for the traffic and Park Meadows mall. But I hear nothing but complains from people living there how much it's changed. I guess I'll see for myself when I move back in 2008. |

The people who are complaining could move to Alabama or Mississippi, but that wouldn't be fair to the fine people who live in those states. If 10% of the whining and complaining I read on this forum is true, then 90% of the people living in Colorado would be moving out. That wouldn't be fair to the people from Alabama & Misssissippi.
Fortunately, it seems to be limited to the forum. The everyday people I meet seem to love Colorado as is.blessings....Franco |
