jim,

We can hope this storm doesn't fizzle out, as have so many this winter. The high country is looking better, but we really need moisture in the mid-elevations. Maybe this storm will do it. The downside is that the high winds may really elevate the avalanche danger in the high country. Traveling over US550 last week, I saw a lot cornicing already happening, so any more of that will undoubtedly lead to some big slides. I'm scheduled to be over US550 again this week sometime, but I may rethink my schedule if this storm behaves as predicted. Bad road conditions I can and do deal with on a regular basis, but one has no control of when a slide is going to run--if I'm in its way when it does--well, you might not have to worry about ol' Jazzlover anymore.

Jazz, if you're in the way of a slide when it runs, it will change course and bypass you -- professional courtesy, ya know.

Be careful out there....

Well, we'll see. was in Grand Junction for a doctors appointment, now at the house and the clouds are rolling in. All of the clouds are north of the Bookcliffs, headed for Meeker and Craig. . Not much south of GJ. But so far there is no wind, 11 News GJ said last night expect everything to hit between 4 and 4:30 p.m. We'll see.

Well, that front was 9 hours late but it made an impact here, bringing 30 to 40 m.p.h. winds and a good hard rain to my area. They're predicting 12" to 16" of snow in the high country. I get Fox31 here for morning and night news and they said it is really coming down at Vail Pass and the tunnel, but at last look the roads are still open.

ADDED: at 10:30 this morning Interstate 70 has been shut down at Glenwood Canyon due to multiple accidents.

Well last night half an inch of rain here in Delta, Ekert 3/4 inch of rain, Paonia 3 inches of snow, Cedaredge 3 inches of snow, Ridgway 6 inches of snow, Olathe half inch of rain, Montrose 1/4 inch of rain, Grand Mesa 7 inches of snow, Grand Junction a 10th to 1/4 inch of rain, Norwood 4 inches of snow (has 12 inches total on the ground), Crested Butte 4.5 inches of new snow with 44 inches on the ground.

Stopped here, but I can see it's still snowing up towards Cedaredge and on the Grand Mesa. Told by friends in Cedaredge it's a heavy wet snow, some tree limbs down.

Well, it's finally snowing in the GJ area as far as a regular storm goes. Coming down pretty good for the last half hour. Still will get rain as temps get up to 40. News11 Grand Jct. says the storm will let up before the second part comes in late this afternoon.
