Our Norweigan Buhund seems to do OK at 7500'. But we never had him anywhere else, so I can't compare. He retrieves a ball I throw till my arm falls out. He does sleep a lot, but don't all dogs? His eating seems normal. And he loves the snow.
Are you in CO or concerned about a possible move. I'm assuming you have a boxer by your screen name. Do Boxers have a breathing issue anyways? My friends Boxer would 'slime' us with his HUGE tongue. When he was sleeping, we could take his tongue out of his mouth and wrap it on top of his head! Kind of hiper, but really sweet

Our boston terrier moved here from 12 feet above sea level and was fine until we took him to Trail Ridge. At 12k feet, he threw up once right in a pocketbook! Not funny, but he was fine after that and on subsequent visits. Pretty tough these animals are!

We have a boxer mix, and well she was born up here, and
she is a maniac, can run at least 25mph(used to chase my car
or motorcycle when I came home), runs with us when we
snowmobile at 10,000 feet, although we need to force her to take
breaks otherwise she'd run until she died.(she's not the smartest cookie)

I think dogs are like people they need time to adapt, plenty of water
our boxer could drink like 3 gallons a day I think.
